We donated our photography services to document a wonderful fundraising event for the St. Christopher Children's Home, St. Kitts.

"Martinis and Style" took place at the Sky Ultra Lounge and featured delicious cocktails, a raffle and a fashion show showcasing the latest pieces of talented local designers.

Spice Fest 2018 - Food, Art and Music Festival, St. Kitts

Spice Fest - a weekend for your senses. This year's Spice Fest was under the motto "Colour". The 3-day event kicked off on Friday night with a "Glitz & Glow" party, featuring Caribbean cuisine, live pole and aerial performances, fabulous cocktails mixed by a flair bartender from Trinidad, a live graffiti artist and live music. Saturday continued with an open market day showcasing local arts & craft, followed by an amazing "All Star Night of Dining". Spice Fest concluded on Sunday with a beach day, grea food, live music and of course a lot of fun. See for yourself...

Caribbean Crewfest 2018

We were invited to document the 3rd annual Caribbean Crewfest 2018. This event is organised by ACREW and hosted in and around the stunning Christophe Harbour marina. Caribbean Crewfest means 4 days filled with professional development workshops, island excursions and fun social events for captains and crew of luxury yachts.

2018 St. Kitts & Nevis Calendar

We did it! A lot of you have asked for it and now we have created a St. Kitts & Nevis calendar for 2018.

We don't have to tell you that this makes a great souvenir, keepsake or (Christmas) present. Now you can have the beauty of St. Kitts and Nevis with you 365 days of the year.

Below are close-ups of the individual months with a little background story on each photo.

This photo was taken almost 3 years ago at the National Carnival. Pictured are the Masquerades in their colorful flowy costume and feathered headdresses.

Masquerade is an artform created by the coming together of peoples of African and European descent over a period of 300 years.

The Masquerades are always performing in the carnival parade on January 1st and 2nd.

This photo was captured on a picture perfect day in South Friars Bay. We spend Sundays at The Godfather Beach Bar and while the view from there is always beautiful, that Sunday it was extra special. Being on the Caribbean side of the island, the sea always tends to be calmer but to see it that calm, crystal clear and sparkling is rare.

Naturally, I had to capture the moment and whenever I look at this photo I just want to dive right into the Caribbean.

We all know it, that beautiful majestic fig tree at the entrance of Montpelier Plantation.

This is it, just from a different angle. I loved the play of light and shadows, these old roots and of course the old sugar mill in the background. One picture that tells a whole story.

On a flight out of St. Kitts I could not believe my eyes and was glued to the window. No haze, no clouds, just Mount Liamuiga in all its glory.

But that's not it. Did you spot Brimstone Hill? Funny how this picture puts it all into perspective.

Lodge - my favorite village. Nestled into a ghaut with a lot of palm trees and other vegetation, with a winding road down into and than up back out of the village.

I just love this idyllic scenery.

On a hike in St. Peter's in between tall guinea grass I was able to catch a glimpse of this view - wow!

St. Peter's hills in the foreground, the hills of Birdrock, Frigate Bay, the South-East Peninsula and Nevis in the background makes it picture perfect to me.

Love them or hate them, the Green Vervet Monkeys just belong to St. Kitts & Nevis.

I captured this one at Sunshine's Beach Bar on Nevis. He/ she was eyeing our lunch which gave me the opportunity to capture him/her in all his/her beauty.

Off the beaten path is where I like to venture. This image was taken right in between Black Rocks, which were formed as a result of a volcanic eruption over 400 years ago.

There are so many beautiful spots on St. Kitts and Nevis and to me, Caribelle Batik at Romney Manor is definitely one of them.

Being up there is just like a breath of fresh air. The colors, the plants, the well maintained grounds...a prefect place to recharge.

Of course we all know this view, which must be the most photographed view of St. Kitts - the south-east peninsula as seen from Timothy Hill. The Atlantic to your left, the Caribbean to your right.

This image however, was captured at night with the moon trying to peek through the clouds and illuminating the shoreline and hills ever so slightly.

I remember this day. I was on an island road trip with a friend who in turn had friends visiting. We were coming to the end of the island tour and the last stop was Ottley's Plantation. We wandered around the grounds and then came to this palm tree grove, planted some 10-15 years ago by the then owner.

It was just such an impressive sight - all the palm trees perfectly aligned and the sun setting behind them - simply beautiful.

This picture was captured at Whitehouse Bay at one of my favorite times of the day - sunset. Everything is drenched in this golden sunlight and landscapes glow in a special dreamy way.

The calendar can be bought at Harper's Office Depot (both locations), Ballast Bay Outfitters (in the Christophe Harbour Marina), Island Tingz (at Shiggidy Shack) and Island Glass Designs (opposite the post office).

St. Kitts Nevis Restaurant Week featuring lunch at Arthur's

The St. Kitts Nevis Restaurant Week 2017 is in full swing and we were asked to take photos of the lunch special that Arthur's, Belle Mont Farm's Sea-To-Fork Restaurant is offering from July 19-30, 2017.

The lunch features Mahi Mahi or Chicken Breadfruit Tacos with Yam Gnocchi Gratin, Grilled Garden Vegetables and Salad Greens with Passion Fruit Dressing. For dessert you get Mango Mousse + Coconut Sorbet with Dark Chocolate Cookie Crumbs.

You know what the best part about this job was? That we got to eat all the food we photographed. It was delicious! ;)

They did it! After living on the island for 2.5 years, this was the grand finale before heading back state side. Melanie and Jimmy said yes. What an exciting and beautiful day it was. There was a lot of laughter, some tears and a whole lot of love.

After getting ready at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort we headed to the top of Timothy Hill where we took photos of the bridal party. Of course we could not miss St. Kitts' most iconic picture spot! We then headed down to Carambola Beach Club where all festivities took place and where Pugsy the pug was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his "mummy" and "daddy".

Sugar Mas 45 - St. Kitts Nevis National Carnival - Grand Parade

Sugar Mas 45, St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival... it is vibrant, loud, playful, creative, chaotic, happy, sexy, eclectic, colorful, beautiful, upbeat and a little naughty.
Normally, the big carnival parade takes place on the 1st of the New Year once it is not a Sunday. The latter was the case this year, so the revelers could actually rest on January 1st and recharge on some energy before hitting the roads of Basseterre on January 2nd.

That's when St. Kitts' capital really comes alive and is bursting with energy. There is color, sounds and people everywhere. Definitely an event not to be missed.

St. Kitts Super Moon Engagement Photo Session

Melanie and Jimmy trusted me to photograph their wedding in April 2017. To get to know each other, we scheduled an engagement shoot. Their wedding will take place at the beach, so for the engagement photos Melanie and Jimmy wanted other scenery. No problem! You have beautiful scenery wherever you look in St. Kitts.

The two love birds have been living on St. Kitts for over two years but I am glad that I could still introduce them to new locations in St. Kitts that they have not visited before.

Our photography session started in the afternoon at Ottley's Plantation (www.ottleys.com). I just love the grounds up there and the Royal Palm orchard is my favorite.

Afterwards, we did head down to Dieppe Bay. Granted, this is a beach location. But from there you also have a beautiful view on the mountains.

We finished off the engagement session at Black Rocks - rock formations that were created during a volcano outbreak centuries ago. We climbed down and took photos in between these majestic rocks. The sun was slowly going down to make space for the super moon which was shining down on us in all its glory. It couldn't have been more magical.

I can't wait to capture the moments of your very special day in April, Melanie and Jimmy!

Sneak Peak of new St. Kitts Nevis Visitor Magazine

Exciting news! We've been hired to take some photos for the 2016/2017 issue of the St. Kitts Nevis Visitor Magazine. This assignment had us explore St. Kitts and Nevis a bit more. We met and photographed interesting artists and people across both islands. We captured (and sometimes tasted ;-)) a variety of delicious food, from local to Indian to fine-dining. We took shots of locally made products. And our stock photos from various St. Kitts and Nevis events came to good use to. You can find photos from Spice Fest, Nevis Blues Festival, White Sands and the St. Kitts Music Festival in the magazine.

We were able to get one of the first copies, fresh of the press. Take a sneak peak here...

We'll be uploading photos of the various sessions we had for the magazine in subsequent blog posts. So, keep an eye open.

St. Kitts and Nevis welcomes Prince Harry

His Royal Highness visited St. Kitts and Nevis today as part of his 2 week royal visit in the Caribbean. We had the pleasure of documenting his time here on St. Kitts today. At 9 am this morning he was officially welcomed with a military parade in Port Zante. After the formal welcome which included inspecting the guards, he took time and personally greeted many people in the crowd. Even we were lucky enough to get a royal handshake :)

Island Tingz - new local souvenir shop in Frigate Bay

Just in time for Christmas, a new souvenir shop has opened on St. Kitts yesterday. It is located at the famous Shiggidy Shack Beach Bar and Grill (www.mrxshiggidyshack.net) on the Strip in Frigate Bay. "Island Tingz" is the name and that is exactly what you will get there: locally made 'tingz'. From paintings that incorporate local sand, piggy banks made out of coconuts to jewelry made out of sea fans or lion fish.

Spice up your life with locally made hot sauce. Buy the rum punch kit and create your perfect rum punch.

Is Carib your favorite beer? Take home a key ring made out of a recycled Carib bottle cap. Or a fridge magnet made out of drift wood to remind you of those lazy days on the beach.

I had an impromptu photo shoot at Carambola Beach Club yesterday. The task was to create lifestyle photos of people enjoying some fine wine in the tropics on the beach. The location was perfect and the afternoon light was right. That made up for the fact that we had less than half an hour to take the images.

Intimate Engagement Shoot on one of St. Kitts' secluded beaches

It has been raining and overcast on and off this week. So, up until the last minute we did not know if we could go ahead with Kylee's and Sam's engagement photo shoot. Luckily, the weather gods were on out side and the sun showed us her most beautiful face on Saturday morning.

We headed down to Turtle Beach, located on the south-east peninsula - another one of St. Kitts' little treasures. We had the beach to ourselves for most of the morning - perfect!

Sunshine, a secluded beach, turquoise water, amazing scenery, a beautiful and happy couple - what more can we ask for?

How does waking up at 3 am on a bank holiday morning sound to you? Is 3 am even morning or still in the middle of the night?

The sun rises early in St. Kitts and Nevis. What a strange feeling it was to get up way before the sun shows its face and to get ready for a morning on the beach. But not just any morning. It was Monday, May 16, 2016...the day of St. Kitts first ever All-Inclusive Morning Beach Fete nick-named 'Breaking Dawn".
All-Inclusive, that means breakfast was waiting for us when we got to the venue, Carambola Beach Club in South Friars. A real Kittitian breakfast consists of eggs, salt fish and johnny cakes. That and much more was available to get a good foundation before the the day got properly kicked off with unlimited drinks, live performances and a lot of dancing.

Spice Fest 2016 - Food, Art and Music Festival - at Cockleshell Bay, St. Kitts

St. Kitts and Nevis have a lot of talent and Kittitians know how to throw a party. Spice Fest 2016 can definitely proof that. It was a three day food, art and music festival held at Spice Mill on Cockleshell Bay in St. Kitts.

The weekend got kicked off on Friday, the 29th of April with the theme Arabian Night. The location was beautifully decorated, the food was amazing and the entertainment first class. Two belly dancers and one fire eater were flown in all the way from Trinidad and energized the audience.

But let's not forget the local talent! Beautiful handcrafted jewelry, clay sculptures, paintings, pottery, beauty products, frames and much more were on display and available for purchase. Kudos to all St. Kitts and Nevis artists!

We missed the Saturday event as we were previously booked to photograph a destination wedding here on St. Kitts.

But we were back on Sunday for the final day of Spice Fest 2016. A casual afternoon on the beach in the sun. Still with all the art on display, the belly dancers teaching the audience, a live DJ, food and great vibes.

So happy we were invited to capture the essence of that weekend. Thank you Spice Mill!

Nevis Blues Festival 2016

April 14-16, 2016 - it was that time again. The second annual Blues Festival took place on Nevis on the grounds of the Oualie Beach Resort. What an amazing 3 days it was. A small intimate blues festival on the beach with a Caribbean sea breeze, local and international food and drinks. Outstanding performances from Ian Siegal, Kirk Fletcher, Simon McBride, Denise Gordon, The Rhythm Chiefs, Denny Ilett and Northsyde covered the blues, soul, funk and blues-rock genres.

We were the official photographers of the event and loved every minute. Enjoy some captures of the event below.

Vibrant Engagement Photo Shoot in Old Road, St. Kitts

St. Kitts is such a beautiful island and we are blessed with sunshine all year round. Yet, we had to postpone Ashley's and Dylan's engagement session because of grey skies and rain. But it was worth the wait! On November 15th we were finally able to get together and go out to Old Road for their engagement session. We started off on the beautiful grounds of Romney Manor/ Caribelle Batik. I always love being up there. The grounds are so pristine, the colors are so vibrant and I always feel good after I've spent some time there. Our visit there definitely lived up to the expectations. The beautiful greens mixed with golden sunlight were the perfect backdrop for the engagement shoot.

But we didn't stop there. Ashley's and Dylan's favorite bar/restaurant on the island is Sprat Net, which is located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea - the perfect spot to capture the sunset.

In about 5 months we'll be capturing Ashley's and Dylan's wedding and we can't wait to be part of your special day!
